San Diego’s Petco Super Vaccine Station to close Saturday due to Moderna vaccine shortage nationwide – NBC 7 San Diego

San Diego’s Petco Park super vaccination station will close again starting Saturday due to a nationwide Moderna COVID-19 vaccine shortage, a county spokesperson confirmed to NBC 7.

The county spokesperson said the shutdown would last until Tuesday.

This is the second time that supply disruptions have forced a hiatus at one of San Diego’s largest vaccination sites. NBC 7’s Dave Summers has more.

Second dose appointments will automatically be rescheduled, the spokesperson said. Those affected by the delays are advised to verify their MyUCSDChart account or search for an email with details of their new appointment date.

Petco Park only administers Moderna vaccines. No information on how this national shortage will affect other local vaccination sites has been released.

This is also the second weekend that the Petco Park vaccination site is closed.

It also comes days after the county announced employees in schools, education and child care; non-medical rescuers and workers in the food and agriculture sectors will be eligible for vaccinations starting Saturday.
