Santa Barbara County Reports 779 New COVID-19 Cases Sunday

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reported 779 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the county’s total cases to 21,323.

According to data from the health department, there are now 2,129 active or infectious cases of COVID-19 in the county.

Santa Barbara County has reported an average of 445 new cases of the virus per day over the past week, according to county health officials. There are no new deaths linked to COVID-19 in the county.

The Santa Barbara County Community Data Dashboard shows the Southern California area’s test positivity rate to be 11.1%. In order for the Southern California region to return to the red level of the current purple level, the region’s test positivity rate would have to be at or below 8%, according to state health officials.

The county data dashboard also shows that per 100,000 people in the Southern California area, about 38.3 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed. To move to the least restrictive red level, the region must have an adjusted case rate of seven or less per 100,000 population.

Public health officials said 981 Santa Barbara County health workers tested positive for COVID-19.
