Giants running back Saquon Barkley stepped on Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons in the first quarter and had to be hauled into the practice hall.
Barkley was initially listed as questionable to return, but the Giants quickly demoted him.
He has an ankle injury, and a close-up of Barkley’s ankle on the Fox show showed noticeable swelling.
Barkley limped off after a failure on a steep hill with 6:17 left in the first quarter. Team medics called for a cart on the sidelines, and Barkley limped to it on their way to the training room.
Barkley had two 9-yard carries before leaving.
The Cowboys lead 3-0 after the first quarter.
