NEW YORK (Reuters) – Singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles has turned her anguish into the 2016 US elections in art, writing love songs about former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
His new album, "Amidst the Chaos," reflects both his dismay at the election of President Donald Trump and his support for social movements such as the empowerment of women.
"In the midst of chaos" is that the world really feels like it is burning half the time these days, "Bareilles told Reuters.
The American singer, who became famous in 2007 with her first single "Love Song", was devastated by the departure of Obama.
"I miss them, yes, I wrote love songs about Obama," she said.
"This is how I treated my grief and grief honestly when they disappeared. So, I wrote songs to them – it was "I miss you". It was a sweet way to emit a chain feeling that I did not know where to put.
Bareilles said the album's other music, which will be released on Friday, was inspired by the 2016 election and by "the women's movement, which has been an incredible bottom-up in recent years."
"Amidst the Chaos" is Bareilles' first original material album since 2013. The singer spent six years bringing the musical "Waitress", for which she wrote the music and starred on Broadway.
Bareilles, 39, is currently working on a series for Apple's new TV streaming service, inspired by his own life.
"It's about a young girl in New York who is a beginner singer-songwriter and has a very special gift and does not know what to do with it," she said. .
Bareilles, who wrote the original music for the television series "Little Voice," performed the theme song at an Apple event last month, which unveiled the company's upcoming Apple TV + subscription service.
