Sauk Co. Reaches CDC’s Highest Level of Community Transmission of COVID-19

MADISON, Wisconsin (WMTV) – Sauk County crossed the barrier in the most serious category of COVID-19 designated by federal health officials on Wednesday, the same day the state reported more than 1,000 cases of COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest COVID-19 community transmission map showed Sauk County rose from substantial to high on Wednesday.

Under the latter notice, anyone, regardless of vaccination status, in a county classified as having a “high” level of community transmission or falling in the less severe “substantial” classification should wear a mask when found. in indoor public places or when going to private gatherings indoors.

Iowa County also went from moderate to “substantial” on Wednesday.

Rock County went from substantial to high on Tuesday, while Columbia Co. Public Health rose to a substantial level of community transmission.
