In both free teasers, both on the melancholy melody "I love you too long" – "Nicole" in the original version of Otis Redding, "Charlie" on the cover of Cat Power – Nicole and Charlie list the reasons why they love each other, before their warm declarations begin to give way to shades of disappointment and regret. Everything is played out in the subtle fashion of Baumbach's trademark, with Johansson and Driver offering incredibly nuanced performances.
