Scientists discover that the army of terracotta weapons preserved by accident is not an old chrome-plating technique

TThe experts concluded that the weapons carried by the Chinese Terracotta Army had been stored by accident and not by the oldest anti-rust technologies.

Archaeologists originally thought that the bronze weapons worn by warriors had been chromed because they were in that flawless state when they were discovered in 1974 and that the chemical element chrome was discovered nearby.

It has been suggested that China learned about chrome plating about 2,000 before rediscovering it in the 1920s.

But a new analysis from University College London (UCL) revealed that the chrome came from a decorative varnish used on wooden weapon stems.
