The world's first black hole photo, revealed last April, is the result of a collaboration of 347 astronomers from around the world. Today, these astronomers understand how to divide $ 3,000,000 into prizes for their hard work.
In case you missed the news in April, an international consortium of more than 300 astronomers managed to achieve something that previously thought impossible: they captured the photo of a black hole at the # 39, using a planetary array of eight ground telescopes. The picture, however, is only the beginning of a new era in black hole imaging. Shep Doeleman, project director, tells AFP that they are already working at the next stage: the video.
