Scorecards reveal rounds Paul Felder won in controversial 48-47 tally in UFC Vegas 14 headliner

Despite being passed and smothered in five rounds, Paul Felder beat Rafael dos Anjos on a judge’s scorecard in the headlining of UFC Vegas 14.

Even Felder gave a puzzled look when Bruce Buffer announced Chris Lee’s 48-47 scorecard for him after five rounds of grinding action with former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos. But when the other two scorecards were read, dos Anjos was rightly declared the winner.

Not only did dos Anjos win, but he threw up a shutout with two scores 50-45 by Sal D’Amato and Derek Cleary. Lee allowed Felder to win rounds 2-4 via 10-9 scores.

Dos Anjos not only softened Felder’s attack on the fence, but did a solid job on his feet for five laps. Felder struggled at times with distance and timing as dos Anjos worked up front and back in the rally. A kick to the body was money for the Brazilian as the two stood in the center of the octagon.

The split-call victory put Dos Anjos back in the winning column after a pair of welterweight losses in bouts against Leon Edwards and Michael Chiesa, respectively. Felder, who took the fight on five days notice, has now lost his previous two fights after another split decision – headlining in February against Dan Hooker – did not go in his direction.
