Scotty Miller says he’s faster than Tyreek Hill

Scotty Miller feels it.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver made some big field games in the playoffs, including Sunday’s game-changing 39-yard touchdown at the end of the first half of the NFC Championship.

Now he’s here to call Tyreek Hill.

The sophomore speedster joined the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday for pre-Super Bowl fodder. He is obviously not concerned with providing notice board material. When Patrick asked him if he could beat Hill in a run, he didn’t hesitate with his answer.

‘I have complete confidence in myself’

“Oh, I take myself out every day of the week,” Miller said. “I’ll take on anyone.

“Tyreek is an amazing talent, super fast and amazing. But if we are talking about a race, I have full confidence to face anyone.

When asked to clarify if he thinks he’s the fastest player in the NFL, Miller simply replied, “Yes sir.

So who is the fastest player in the NFL? The fastest man competition former Washington cornerback Darrell Green had is gone. So we still have 40 yards.

The fastest candidates

Hill’s pro day 40 yard-dash time of 4.29 seconds in 2016 before joining the NFL puts him at the top of the league. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Marquise Goodwin – who opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns – posted a 4.27 on her 2013 pro day and recovered her bet by beating 15 NFL players in the 2019 40-yard gold competition. Hill did not enter the competition because he was in the midst of a since-abandoned child abuse investigation.

John Ross of Cincinnati (2017 NFL combined record 4.22), Henry Ruggs of Las Vegas and teammate Mecole Hardman of Hill would also likely have something to say in that conversation.

As for Miller? He ran a 4.39-40-yard dash on his 2019 pro day. It’s quick, but not quite among even the elite of NFL speedsters. Hill doesn’t seem to see him as a threat.

Tyreek Hill Response to Miller

Patrick Mahomes joined Patrick on Wednesday after Miller’s appearance and Hill’s response. He mostly refused to take the bait.

“It’s an interesting take,” Mahomes said. “You have to trust though, I’ll give that to him.” …

“He’s a quick guy. He’s an excellent receiver. But I love my guy.
