It is the Prime Minister, Paul Kaba Thiéba who launched on July 06, 2018 the construction of this gold mine located in the rural municipality of Niankorodougou, in the province of La Léraba, Cascades region, more than 400 kilometers west of Ouagadougou, told APA communication department of the Primature.
At a cost of 137 billion FCFA, the gold mine, whose operating license was obtained in August 2014, is expected to produce its first gold bullion in the last quarter of 2019.
In the opinion of senior Wahgnion Gold Operation, the mine will be spread over four deposits for a total area of 89.08 km2.
Eighty to ninety tons of gold are expected over twenty years of operation.
It appears that 84 billion FCFA will be collected in terms of taxes and duties by the State of Burkina Faso, over nine years, with average production 3.7 tons of gold per year during this period
