© koaci.com- Sunday, July 08, 2018 – The 40th Session of the Ministerial Mediation and Security Council (CMS) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) examined on 07 July 2018 in Lomé, Togo, the political process in some Member States of the such as Burkina Faso, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo.

With regard to the political and security situation in these countries, the members of the Council made recommendations both to the authorities of these countries and to the Commission Search Commission ECOWAS, whose efficient implementation should help ensure peace, security and development in the community space.

In addition to security issues, they also discussed elections and terrorism in the subregion. West African region

CMS members also urged the Community to implement the decisions adopted by the Mediation and Security Council at its last sessions, and praised the initiative of holding next, in Lomé, on July 30, 2018, the joint summit between ECOWAS Search ECOWAS and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on peace, security and Radicalization and violent extremism

With regard to elections in the member states, the Mediation and Security Council called for the reinforcement of trust between political actors, citizens and the bodies responsible for elections.

In addition to these recommendations, Sierra Leone, Finda Koroma, New Vice-President Search Vice-President of the Commission Search Commission ] of the ECOWAS Search ECOWAS as well as other statutory officials of the regional organization were sworn in on Saturday 07 July in Lomé. It was during the 80th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers. The opening ceremony of the session was chaired by Robert Dussey, the Togolese Minister for Foreign Affairs and President of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.

The Council, composed of the Ministers in charge of Affairs ECOWAS ECOWAS in member states, will have to consider the 2018 interim report of the Community, the status of implementation of the tasks assigned by its 79th ordinary session, the financial situation of the Community, and the final report 2017 the "Financial Controller" of the ECOWAS institutions.

It should be noted that the ministerial meeting in Lomé served to prepare the way for the community summit to be held in Lomé on July 31, 2018.
