The Constitutional Court proclaimed, in a public hearing on Wednesday, July 4, the final list of candidates for the presidential election of July 29.
C is now official. They are 24 candidates to run for the highest office in Mali. Indeed, the Constitutional Court validated, after appeal, the applications of Cheick Modibo Diarra, Mount Tall, Choguel Kokalla Maiga, Mamadou Traore, Niankoro Yeah Samake, Harouna Sankare and Hamadoun Toure. Indeed, in its judgment of Saturday, June 30, the jurisdiction had rejected their applications, on the grounds that the list of support produced, including in the context of the sponsorship, included the name of alleged communal councilors not included on the official list produced by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. These seven candidates are thus added to the 17 others whose candidacy was already validated by the Constitutional Court in its aforementioned decision.
The candidatures of Ainéa Ibrahim Camara, Boubacar N'tio Traore, Aboubacar Abdou Toure, Marcelin Guengueré, Missa Koné, Mrs. Rakia Alphadi wife Ganfoud are definitely rejected.
At the end of yesterday's hearing, Wednesday, July 04, 2018, the president of the Constitutional Court, Ms. Manassa Danioko, declared that the presidential election is the basic extension in a country. This is the top function of the state, she commented. That is why, she continues, we can not integrate without all the checks, even with the pettiness of the Constitutional Court. The jurisdictional body is neutral and has no choice, she said. In Danioko's opinion, the Constitutional Court of Mali is the only one in Africa that is sworn in before the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly and the President of the Supreme Court. Legality and legitimacy are there, she concluded.
