Fifteen conferences, as many concerts, twenty-five African countries represented through exhibitions … For the first edition of the Festival des continents , all the colors of Africa were honored.

During the weekend, several African ministers and ambassadors made the trip to the fort, exceptionally open to the public for the duration of the festival. They were able to visit the places and discover the exhibitions, guided in particular by Boubekeur Khelfaoui, owner of the place since 2017.

"Example to follow"

All had in mind the speech delivered by Emmanuel Macron a few days earlier, in Nigeria, announcing the launch of a Season of Cultures of Africa in France in 2020 with the ambition to promote music, cinema and all African culture. Abdoul Karim Sango, Minister of Culture of Arts and Tourism of Burkina Faso, expressed himself:

I think it is a great idea to organize at Querqueville Fort, a place historically dedicated to defense, to counter adversity, an event of dialogue and crossing cultures. We have with France a common past that we can not forget, but we must build the future with more optimism in the relationship between our continent and France. In view of what is looming in 2020 in France, I find that this festival is a perfect illustration and an example to follow.

Manu Dibango expected

This Sunday is the last evening of entertainment and concerts. To conclude in beauty, the renowned saxophonist Manu Dibongo will give a concert. For a glimpse of his performance, here at the jazz festival in Marciac:
