The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the European Union (EU) adopted, on Monday in Brussels, its decision adapting the Association Agreement and the Agricultural Agreement with the Kingdom of Nature to expressly include the Moroccan Sahara, reports the Moroccan electronic press, citing a European source.

This is a measure, in line with the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU on the liberalization agreement for agricultural and other products of 21 December 2016, which aims to enshrine in the texts the extension of tariff preferences in the Moroccan Sahara, specifies the same source.

This decision aims both at strengthening the legal basis for exporting products from the southern provinces to the EU with trade preferences and at promoting development of these regions.

The decision of the EU Foreign Ministers, which called on the European Parliament to adopt it as soon as possible, also allows the EU "to continue to reinvigorate its partnership with the EU. Morocco and shows the way forward for the fisheries agreement between the two partners in the coming months, "said the same source.
