Moors and Negro-Africans, something very rare since the communal break born of the events of 89-91, have communicated together during a night of high bill.
" This is the first time that I see good-natured Moors, attend and dance in a very casual way, in an evening organized by a Kowriya (Negro-African Ndlr) and it moved me to tears ", admits a great personality of the Mauritanian cultural milieu.
It must be said that Coumba Gawlo managed to make dance, during his favorite song, "Kouye Feug" all the personalities present. High-ranking members of the Moorish community, including representatives of high-level UN institutions, government officials and the artist's large private partner boxes, wiggled to the sound of mbalax.
This song, by which Coumba launches a real competition to contenders at his hand, was the humorous moment of his performance, where his stentor voice stirred more than one soul.
The French ambassador, HE John Meyer and his wife, the Representative of UNFPA in Mauritania, have been transposed very far, so much the stamp of Coumba reminiscent of the depths of Africa and its millennial roots.
The evening was marked by the beautiful performance of the young Khoudia (15 years old), UNICEF's goodwill ambassador, already with a heavy stamp and a rich back-ground.
She moved the audience and created the mood. The young Seydou Nourou Guèye, rising star of the music halpulaar, also transposed the assistance to the banks of the Senegal River and the scents of Fouta Torodos and Halaybé.
The three songs he chained also nourished the mood and made more than one girl dance to the sound of "Wango".
For her part, Mouna Mint Dendenni, whose performances went beyond the country's borders, particularly in Lebanon where she had performed but also in Dakar, drew on Moorish cultural heritage, to sing in her own voice. elf modern songs mixed with a traditional background. She dazzled the audience who communicated with applause and swaying each of her tremolos.
It should be remembered that Coumba Gawlo's gala dinner follows a Forum that the artist had organized the day before on the theme of the empowerment of women and the demographic dividend in the Sahel where in particular, she put more than 600 guests on the subject of women's economic and financial independence, girls' schooling, child marriage and birth spacing.
These activities, opened by a press conference on Wednesday, July 18, which ended with a concert at the Sebkha Stadium, are part of the tour that Coumba Gawlo conducted as part of the 12 th edition of the African Tour 2018 between 17 and 21 July 2018 in Mauritania, under the patronage of SEM.
The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdel Aziz, with the support of the Ministry of Public Service, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the support of UN agencies (UNFPA, IOM, WHO, UNAIDS, UNICEF, OHCHR), the World Bank, USAID, some private partners, Tasiast, MCM, Mauritel, Orabank, among others.
