A Porsche 959 ex-Paris-Dakar and a prototype soon to auction

This time we are looking at October with a 100% Porsche sale and two exceptional 959s to be announced.

For fans of the brand, remember the date of October 27th. RM Sotheby's is organizing a sale entirely dedicated to Porsche at the Atlanta Driving Center. Some lots are already unveiled, you find them here but we will stop especially on two cars, two Porsche 959.

The 959 is considered as the first supercar of Porsche. A car with a twin-turbo engine and 4-wheel drive. This 4 × 4 system is tested on a 911 by Jacky Ickx on the Paris Dakar 1984. 6th in the end, the desire is there to go back there.
In 1985 it is thus three cars which are engaged on the race, the self presented here is one of them. Its chassis number is 010015 and it is René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne who were on board, with the number 186. It is a lubrication problem that will force it to abandon, the other two will be victims of accidents. Porsche will catch up in 1986 with the double and a sixth place.

Since this 959 a little special has been around the world. Exhibited on the biggest events by its private owner, it is the first 959 ex-Paris-Dakar to pass in a sales room. And as an exceptional Porsche 959 that's not enough, RM Sotheby's will propose a second. This is the third of four prototypes of the car, and the only one that has ever reached us. In Komfort configuration, this car has been used for electrical tests and high temperatures. The tests have taken him to San Francisco and Australia. Note as a difference with a car series headlights and magnesium wheels. It is estimated between 1.3 and 1.6 million dollars.
