Appointments: Macky Sall shakes territorial administration

The territorial administration responsible for the organization of elections in Senegal knows many movements since Macky SALL is elected.

After a fortnight break, the meeting of the Council of Ministers which resumed on Wednesday has still shaken with the assignment of some prefects. Indeed, according to the government statement, Pape Demba DIALLO, Civil Administrator, previously Prefect of the Department of Pikine, is appointed Prefect of the department of Tambacounda, replacing Mor Talla TINE. The latter is named Prefect of the Department of Bambey, replacing Moustapha Ndiaye who takes the post of Pope Demba DIALLO.

A umpteenth game of musical chairs. On February 15, 2017, the meeting of the Council of Ministers caused eighteen governors and prefects to move. A year earlier, on February 25, 2016, just days before the referendum, the General Affairs Branch of the Territorial Administration Branch changed its patron. And no less than fifteen prefects were displaced.

Appointments that will certainly raise questions if we know that governors and prefects will have a determining role to tarnish the next presidential.
