Boko Haram elements attacked a village south of Daboua, a sub-prefecture of Lake Chad near Niger, Thursday around 9 pm local time. They slaughtered 18 people, wounded two others, and abducted 10 women, according to the same source.

On Saturday night, the Nigerian army announced that it had killed "10 terrorists". The soldiers reportedly fought off Boko Haram's attackers who led an attack on one of their positions on Thursday night in southeastern Niger.

Four countries, all engaged in the fight against Boko Haram, border Lake Chad. Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria and Chad. Boko Haram's last major attack on the Chadian side of Lake Chad dates back to May 2018, when six people, mainly law enforcement personnel, were killed in the town of Gabalami, not far from Kinassarom, on an island in Lake

Chad is less affected by the jihadist group than its neighbor Nigeria. However, there has been a resurgence of violence perpetrated by Boko Haram in the country in recent months, after a relative lull.

The Chadian army operates in a mixed multinational force (MMF) with other African nations to fight Boko Haram. With local vigilance committees, it tries to repel jihadists who began their breakthrough in Chad in 2015.

The terrorist group, from Nigeria, strikes in all the countries of the Lake Chad region, where it commits deadly attacks and attacks on police forces, in addition to abducting girls.
