For the fourth night in a row, Nantes had to face new violence that night. These incidents come shortly after the indictment of the CRS that killed Aboubakar Fofana on Tuesday evening during a police check.

Vehicles burned and throwing Molotov cocktails

Violence began Friday night and continued throughout the night, still causing a lot of damage. Around one o'clock on Saturday, seven vehicles were set on fire in Orvault, Rezé and in the neighborhoods of the Breil and Bellevue.

The police also had to wipe several jets of Molotov cocktails, to which they responded with teargas grenades. The beginning of the fire was also declared in a building of the Nantes Habitat social landlord in the Breil district. Tensions finally subsided during the night, as revealed by AFP. At 4 o'clock in the morning, no interpellation had taken place.

"It is necessary that the disturbances which agitate the city since three days stop, declared the public prosecutor of Nantes Pierre Sennès Friday, to respect the legitimate expectations of the family Mr. Fofana to know the precise circumstances surrounding the death of his son. "

Three men aged 20 to 31 years have already been sentenced Friday to four months in prison suspended for violence committed the day after death last Tuesday Aboubakar Fofana, originally from Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d'Oise), after a police check.

Police released under judicial supervision

The police officer responsible for the shooting had just been released under judicial supervision , after his indictment for "deliberate assault causing death without intention to give", said his lawyer Laurent-Franck Lienard to AFP.

Placed in custody Thursday, he admitted to having lied at his first free audition Wednesday and now evokes an accidental shot. He had previously indicated "shooting because of the dangerousness of the driver and to protect people who may be nearby in the path of the vehicle."

The course of events

According to the prosecutor, the facts occurred. The police carried out a check for about 10 to 15 minutes, during which Mr. Fofana gave a false identity. The police ask him to park and follow them to the police station.

He will then run in reverse. A maneuver "particularly dangerous because in his race the driver will graze a police officer" with "at his side two children" says the prosecutor. The policeman will "throw himself on the aisle", taking with him "a girl who could have been hit by the fugitive's vehicle". He will finish his race in a parked vehicle.

The driver will then try to flee in reverse. That's when the policeman decides to shoot.

The officer said "he was actually trying to lean into the cockpit of the vehicle to grab the steering wheel and try to stop the maneuver. ", said Mr.Snes. "It is at that moment," he says, "in the context of what he calls a hand-to-hand combat, that the shot went off accidentally to fatally hit the driver."

Under the arrest warrant for "organized robbery, concealment and criminal conspiracy", the 22-year-old victim was shot in the neck by police on Tuesday around 8:30 pm died in hospital two hours later
