The International Volubilis Festival of Traditional World Music will be held from August 4 to 7 in Meknes, with the participation of Moroccan and foreign artists. Organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI by the Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Council of the Fez-Meknes region and the commune of Meknes, this cultural and artistic festival celebrates the music and arts of the world and is a bridge for intercultural dialogue and the mixing of musical styles, in a Morocco of cultural diversity and openness to the world. This 19th edition derogates from the rule, by deserting the historical monuments and archaeological sites of the city of Volubilis, to elect residence at the cultural center Mohammed El Manouni and the place Lahdim in Meknes, because of the harmful effects of the decibels and the vibrations produced by the high volume of music on the ancestral remains that date back to Roman times.

The Ministry of Culture is considering a suitable method for domiciling the Volubilis Festival in a site that preserves the historic site of "Walili", close to the town of Moulay Idriss Al Akbar, according to the Regional Directorate of Culture of Fez-Meknes. Indeed, the supervision department seeks to make this Festival a meeting place for artists from Morocco and abroad, and an opportunity to boost the cultural, artistic and economic activities of the region, while sparing and preserving the archaeological and historical heritage of the region
The organizers have programmed, for this 19th edition, a host of foreign and Moroccan artists, including Hermanos Tuna (Chile), Africa Begué (Senegal), Dito (Brazil), the quartet Just Friends and Piel Canela (France), Moreno Fiesta (Spain) and Afrikan Kingz (Ivory Coast), in addition to artists and national groups such as Osama Fadel, Samira Kadiri, Layla El Mrini and Taggada, Itimatene, Rabeh Mariwari, Oulad Shim, Abidat R'ma, Hmadcha, Aissawa and Ahl Touat

Parallel to the Festival, the hall of the El Manouni hall will house a plastic art exhibition on the theme "Spiritual Journey, from Meknes to Volubilis ", with the participation of 15 artists from Morocco and Tunisia. This exhibition draws its essence from the historical remains of these two cities classified World Heritage of Humanity.
