More than 70 films are in official competition this year in the various categories of the festival.

The gratin of Cameroonian and African cinema met Friday at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé for the opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of the "Ecrans Noirs" festival.

This edition, which runs from July 13 to 20, has the theme "Cinema and politics in Africa". On this occasion more than 70 films compete in the different categories of the festival: Cameroonian short films, international feature films, documentaries ….

The opening ceremony was marked by the tribute paid to the different faces of African cinema who died this year. year. The public also had the opportunity to discover the 13 young women who compete in the first edition of "Miss Ecrans Noirs 2018."

Another particularity of this inauguration ceremony, it is not a film but a series which was screened at the opening of the festival. It is about "River Hotel", of the director Didier Ndenga and which gathers a beautiful skewer of Cameroonian, Congolese, Ghanaian and Senegalese actors.

In his opening speech, Bassek Ba Kobhio, founder and general delegate of the festival, did not forget to thank Royal Air Maroc for the renewal of its partnership with this major film event. "It says that since we concluded the partnership with Royal Air Maroc, we have passed a course in the organization of the festival. Indeed, we were used to invite twenty people, but thanks to RAM we can even invite an artist from Brazil. So it's a partnership that brings us a lot. In addition, still through this agreement some of our young people benefit from training in Morocco, "said Bassek at Le Matin.
