The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) elected, last Thursday, by acclamation, Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco, Vice-President of the Council for the 2019 cycle, on behalf of the African Continent.

Evidence of trust and support from the international community and the countries of Africa's sub-regional group, this appointment is a consecration of Morocco's efforts in the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Indeed, this appointment will also be an opportunity to consolidate the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI marking the firm commitment of the Kingdom for the emergence and development of sustainable development of the African continent

The vice-presidency of Morocco of Ecosoc, will allow the Kingdom to chair one of the key segments that are held under the auspices of the Council, namely: the Integration Segment, the Humanitarian Affairs Segment, the Segment of Operational Activities for Development, and the Segment for Ecosoc Coordination and Management Meetings.

During his term of office for the 2019 cycle, the The Kingdom of Morocco commits itself to contribute to the efforts of improving the functioning of Ecosoc so that it can strengthen its support to developing countries in their efforts towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
