The documents of this partnership were initialed on Wednesday by Diakalidia Konaté, Director General of ONI and Koffi Adjimon, Director General Africa of the NGO.
This partnership aims to gradually bring populations to declare births on time, aims to "contribute to the implementation of the Ivorian civil registration modernization policy, promote in the civil status centers an inclusive approach capable of guaranteeing the reception and the declaration of births, contribute to the implementation of the program for the accelerated improvement of registration systems and vital statistics (APAI-CRVS), strengthen the capacity of civil status actors and communities "
"The NGO partner, which has a proven expertise in social engineering, is therefore committed to putting this expertise, which is based on its experience accumulated in several countries. of Africa, Europe and Asia, resolutely for the benefit of the ONI in the framework of its missions relating to the management and the modernization of civil status, "says the text.
For the Director General of ONI, Diakalidia Konaté, "the signing of this convention is historic in that it helps all children living in Côte d'Ivoire by giving them a legal existence."
"The choice of this NGO is explained by the fact that it understood very early the interest of working for the declaration of children, because an undeclared child has no legal existence. It is therefore in phase with the ONI which wishes to reach the international standard of birth registration within the normal timeframes for the successful implementation of the RNPP which will be based on the civil status, "added Mr. Konaté.
That is why, according to him, a pilot project was launched in the region of Nawa (South-West), which is a symptomatic region of the civil status problems in Ivory Coast. As for the partner, Koffi Adjimon, the NGO's Africa General Manager, he said he was "honored by this signing of the convention", reassuring of his organization's commitment to working in perfect harmony with the ONI officials to attaining the objectives set out in this convention
"The greatest violence that can be done to a child is not to give him a legal existence," added Mr. Koffi.
On the assets of the NGO Aide et action international-Afrique, we note its active participation in the pilot project of declarations of births and deaths via mobile phones in the communes and sub-prefectures of Korhogo, Béoumi, Duékoué, Soubré, Tiassalé and Attecoubé.
An experiment which has given satisfactory results and could be generalized at the national level, with the forthcoming implementation of the National Register of Persons Physics (RNPP).
