In Cameroon, the presidential election was announced for October 7, 2018, in a decree signed by Paul Biya last Monday. The electoral body thus convened, the time is now to the formalization of the candidatures.

Paul Biya, incumbent president, did not always clarify his intentions when the next presidential election, several other opposition figures have already declared their candidacy.
In total, a dozen have already been declared for this presidential election, including that of Joshua Osih SDF (Social Democratic Front) so far the main party of the opposition.
Maurice Kamto of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) is also in the running as well as the lawyer Akéré Muna for the account of the Popular Front for the development (FPD) . To this trio, the most prominent of the candidates of the opposition, one could add Cabral Libii, invested by the party Universe.
Paul Biya, candidate for his own succession?
The latter days, negotiations were multiplied in order to obtain a consensual candidacy among these aspirants to the supreme magistracy. Even if the idea of an opposition primary was recently mentioned, it was finally abandoned.

These incessant appeals have not blown the main figure so far. A silence that the incumbent president will be obliged to break in less than ten days, according to the provisions of the law
All candidates should have formalized their candidacy no later than July 19, 2018.
