Release of "Sunu folk", a compilation of ten artists

Dakar, July 4 (APS) – Ten artists of different nationalities released on Wednesday, in Dakar, a compilation entitled '' Sunu folk '' (Our folk in Wolof) and produced by the label '' Afrik melo '' , Senegalese singer Yoro Ndiaye.


Around this disc, presented at the Douta Seck House of Culture, young African singers and musicians gathered.

This is the Mauritanian Baba Ciré, who played the song '' African unity '', of the Cameroonian Sanzy Viany with the song '' Ngul Yam '', Burkinabé Patrick Kabré (' 'Dunya' '), by Jessica Loren Monteiro, a Senegalese of Cape Verdean origins) with' 'Marianne' '.

Senegalese singers known on the music scene are also part of it, including Cheikh Diaw Diop ('' Children's Rights '') or Demba Guissé ('' Jam '').

Yoro Ndiaye, the initiator of the project, explained for this first experiment, the choice was made on the basis of his address book.

'' These are artists I already knew, but they had to play an instrument and evolve in folk music '', he justified.

In addition to the diverse origins of artists, all of West Africa, the content of the songs refers to peace, unity, love and the human.

'' Titles were not imposed, everyone came with his inspiration. Sometimes, we sometimes guide them to perfect their work. But, we worked more on the arrangement, "says Yoro Ndiaye.

Started a year ago, the recording of this compilation was made in Dakar.

Yoro Ndiaye's "Afrik melo" label has received funding from the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in its "Confidence Contract" section, in support of cultural initiatives .

'' We received funding from the International Organization of La Francophonie with a first phase for the extension of our label + Afrik melo + and in the second phase, we decided to make it available to young artists, hence this compilation '', explains the interpreter of '' Xaritt ''.

The "Sunu folk" festival, lasting two days and scheduled for July 13 and 14 at the Douta Seck House of Culture, is initiated to support the promotion of this compilation.

The godfather of this first edition is singer Ismaïla Lo.

'' I am proud and happy to see that the succession is well assured, Alhamdoulilah! I wish them a long career. I'm happy with the choice made on me, "said the interpreter of '' Tajabonne '', who claims to be a '' fan '' of Yoro Ndiaye.

The festival is scheduled for July 13 a performance of artists performing the tubes of godfather Ismaïla Lo, and the best will be a single as a reward. The next day, the artists of the compilation and their mentor Yoro Ndiaye will perform alternately on the stage of Douta Seck.

According to Yoro Ndiaye, the Ministry of Culture accompanies them by putting at their disposal the space of Douta Seck and the sound system of the FESMAN.
