Lomé (© 2018 Afriquinfos) – To better inquire about the security situation, and to adopt a Declaration defining a common approach to peace, security, radicalization and extremism in the space of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Heads of State and Government of the two subregional spaces will meet together in a summit on July 30 in Lome, the Togolese capital.
In advance of this joint summit, will be held on July 28, 2018 in Lome, a meeting, experts and a ministerial meeting of the two Communities
Will take part in the meeting, which will be devoted to the consideration and adoption of the draft Declaration and the draft final joint communiqué to sanction the end of the work of the joint summit. , the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and those in charge of Defense or Security.
It is always on the sidelines of the joint summit that Lomé hosts a meeting on 10 and 11 July in which two experts from each country of the Cedeao and ECCAS, and representing one, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the other, that in charge of Defense or Security.
The meeting of experts will be furnished with presentations followed by discussions on the security situation in the two communities, and the bilateral and regional initiatives to combat terrorism and violent extremism
For information, ECCAS brings together 11 countries which are Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic , the Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe and Rwanda.
While ECOWAS has 15 member states, namely Benin, Burkina Faso , Cabo Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Togo.
Strong fight against terrorism and money laundering

It should be recalled that the Summit of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS and ECCAS, held on June 25, 2013, in Yaoundé, Cameroon on the margins of maritime safety and security led to the adoption of the Declaration on Maritime Safety and Security in the Gulf of Guinea
A Declaration through which the "Yaoundé Process" was launched to provide the two regions with legal and operational frameworks as well as that an effective maritime security architecture, interconnected and coordinated by the Interregional Coordination Center, based in Yaoundé.
