The Syrian state agency accused Israel of having conducted a strike Sunday evening against a military site in Aleppo, in the north of the country, which would constitute a rare incursion of the Jewish State in the north of Syria, in spite of its will to stay away from the Syrian conflict.

Citing a military source, the Sana Agency claimed that Israel had "targeted with its missiles one of our military positions north of the Neirab military airport" in Aleppo. "The damage is only material," Sana said.

The Israeli army, which rarely confirms the strikes on Syrian positions, did not comment on the announcement immediately.

The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (OSDH) claimed to have recorded a series of explosions around Neirab Sunday evening.

"They were caused by missiles, suspected of being fired from Israel and targeting positions held by the Syrian regime and its allies at and around Neirab airport, "added the OSDH.

The Jewish state claims to to stay away from the war in neighboring Syria but continues to say that it will not allow Teheran, the support of the Damascus regime, to establish itself in the country.

Since the beginning of the war in Syria in 2011, Israel carried out several strikes against the regime of Bashar al-Assad or s Allies, the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah terrorist group and Iran, near Damascus and in the central provinces of Homs and Hama, but they are much rarer in the north of the country.

In early July, Damascus accused Israel for retaliating against T-4 airbase in Homs province, known to house Iranian fighters as well as Lebanese Hezbollah.
