The stakes were high for the political parties, majority as opposition. During the meeting this Saturday around the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), the opposition was represented by Delly Sesanga of the electoral platform Together for Change led by Moise Katumbi, Vital Kamerhe of the Union for the Nation Congolese and Martin Fayulu of the Dynamique de l'Opposition. All believe that it is impossible to submit applications on time.

"We did not know how many documents we had to sign, explains Martin Fayulu. We were told, for example, that I had to sign 6,600 documents. After 3,500 I said it was not possible!

There was also a problem with the payment of the election guarantee. "There are places where you can not pay the deposit because there is no bank, no office and we were told that we had to file at all costs, with applications, the proof of payment.

At the end of the exchanges with the CENI, it was agreed that on the last day of the deposit of the applications, so this Sunday, tokens will be distributed to the parties and political groupings or the agents present in the queue waiting for them to be received within 48 hours, that is by no later than Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at midnight.

For Corneille Nangaa, president of the CENI, this extension will have no impact on the electoral calendar. "The proposed solutions are based on the principle that we are not going to change the schedule. It's also based on the principle that on December 23, there will have to be elections.

And in accordance with this electoral calendar, the submission of candidatures for the presidential election and for the national elections will start on July 25th.
