In a statement made public on Sunday, the president of Faso Autrement, Dr. Ablassé Ouédraogo compares the rejection of the consular card to a crime and calls the opposition to unite against this code liberticide.

In a state of right, the Electoral Code must guarantee free, transparent and fair elections. Unfortunately, in the form, it is clear that the revision of the Electoral Code, in particular Article 52 concerning the identification and voting documents of Burkinabes living abroad, will not be done by consensus, as befits a such a sensitive law, for the preservation of social peace, national unity and the confidence of political actors in the electoral system. The Electoral Code must guarantee free, fair and fair elections.

Basically, this amending law will restrict the voting rights of Burkinabes living abroad by compelling them to produce identity and voting documents that they will have trouble acquiring, namely the Burkinabè National Identity Card and the passport. The rejection of the consular card as an identity document for Burkinabes residing abroad by our authorities will have the immediate consequence of putting many Burkinabè in situation of "undocumented" and will deliver them to police harassment in their country of Home. It is simply criminal.

The passage in force that the MPP power will use in the National Assembly to impose it is no more and no less than a sordid and cynical maneuver of the MPP regime to exclude our compatriots residing Overseas participation in the elections scheduled for 2020.

Without being naive, we understand that these maneuvers to exclude from the next elections the ten million Burkinabè living and working abroad of which at least four million are of old age. to vote, amply illustrate the scourge that plagues the MPP regime and our leaders to lose the elections in 2020.

To convince us, just remember that for the elections of the President of Burkina Faso November 29, 2015, the champion MP Roch March Christian Kaboré had received only 1,669,214 votes cast, or 53.46 percent.

Since then, much has changed, the growing disillusionment between President Kaboré, "the President I commit myself" and his people with whom he is in perfect phase, on the one hand and on the other hand, the great emptiness left to the MPP by the "Baroudeur" strategist In the history of our country, Salifou Diallo

Of the foregoing and in order to reject the exclusion of some Burkinabè by other Burkinabè, we propose as strong reaction of all the political opposition the following :

  • The immediate suspension of the participation of the Commissioners of the Opposition in the work of the CENI so as not to support the possible implementation of another exclusion law in case the bill is voted in the state;
  • The Organization by the Opposition, and beyond this framework, of the struggle to reject this amending law of exclusion of the Electoral Code by associating all the forces of the Nation of Justice and the whole of the p
  • The Opposition's refusal to participate in the referendum for the adoption of the Constitution of the 5th Republic, which will be announced for the beginning of 2019.

Once again, the demonstration "promises only those who listen to them". Poor Burkinabe people. And instead of cultivating division and hatred among the population, let us work together to ensure that Burkinabè reconcile with each other and that Burkina Faso reconciles with itself. Reconciliation is an imperative necessity for our country and also a categorical imperative for the construction of the nation of Burkina Faso.

Ouagadougou, July 29, 2018

Dr. Ablassé OUEDRAOGO

President of the Parti Le Faso Autrement
