Unified party RHDP: the conditions for a "constitutive GA are met" (Kandia)

The Rassemblement des républicains (RDR), the presidential party in Côte d'Ivoire, still waiting for the accession of its ally, the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI), to the unified party Rally of Houphouetists for Democracy and peace (RHDP, ruling coalition), believes that "the conditions for the convening of the constituent General Assembly are met," said Monday, its Secretary General Kandia Camara, at the opening of a meeting of the Political Bureau .
        

"Today (…) we can say that the conditions for the convening of the constituent General Assembly of the unified party RHDP are met," said Kandia Camara, in the presence of Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, 1st Vice-President of the RDR, at the party headquarters in Abidjan.

She stated that "all the political parties adhering to the RHDP political grouping have adopted the statutes and bylaws of the unified party RHDP with the exception of the PDCI which postponed the examination of this text after 2020".

On June 17, 2018, the PDCI has under the chairmanship of its leader, the former head of state Henri Konan Bédié, held a political bureau, which decided to rule on the unified party RHDP at its next congress scheduled after the presidential of 2020.

According to the political agreement, all political parties should hold an extraordinary General Assembly to decide on the unified party. To date, all the formations that have joined the political group held their extraordinary congress except the PDCI which held instead a meeting of its Political Bureau.

All six parties of the ruling coalition that are the Rally of Republicans (RDR), the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire (PDCI), the Union for Democracy and Peace in Côte d'Ivoire (UDPCI), the Movement of Forces for the Future (MFA), the Union for Ivory Coast (PUIC) and the Ivorian Workers Party (PIT) have already endorsed the political agreement to create the unified party Rassemblement des Houphouetistes for Democracy and Peace (RHDP).

"I would like to congratulate the presidents of the brother parties, who understood the need for the effective creation of the unified party RHDP. I invite the Political Bureau to give its full support to this initiative in accordance with the resolutions of the Fourth Extraordinary Congress of the RDR, "she said.
