Chinese President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing Sunday after state visits to the United Arab Emirates, Senegal, Rwanda and South Africa.
During his stay in South Africa, he participated at the 10th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, and then made a friendly visit to Mauritius during a stopover on the way back to Beijing.
Xi's entourage included his wife, Peng Liyuan; Ding Xuexiang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), member of the secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Directorate of the CPC Central Committee; Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Bureau of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Central Committee; Wang Yi, State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and He Lifeng, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Minister for the National Development and Reform Commission.
When Mr. Xi left Port Louis for Beijing, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, accompanied by his wife and cabinet members, said goodbye to Mr. Xi at the airport.
M. Xi thanked Mauritius for its warm welcome and meticulous organization. According to him, his friendly visit to Mauritius was a successful conclusion of his tour in Asia and Africa.
Although this visit was short, the results have been fruitful and significant, and will undoubtedly help to consolidate and strengthen the friendly relations between China and Mauritius, said Mr. Xi.
M. Jugnauth congratulated Xi on the success of his visit to Mauritius. He thanked China for the long-term assistance and support provided to Mauritius and hopes to meet Xi again at the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to be held in Beijing in September.
