The Forest Service’s lead investigator into the eco-terrorist plot involving President Biden’s candidate for director of President Biden’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) sent a letter to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday to push back the testimony of Tracy Stone-Manning.
Michael Merkley, a retired USDA Forest Service criminal investigator with over 28 years of service, said he felt compelled to write the letter to the Senate committee because many of the reports he had seen on the Stone-Manning-related tree tracing case were “inaccurate or incomplete” and misrepresented her as a “bystander or victim.”
“Unlike many stories in the news, Ms. Stone-Manning was not an innocent bystander, nor a victim in this case,” Merkley wrote. “And, she was certainly not a hero. Ms. Stone-Manning was not only a member of Earth First !, but she played an active role in the Earth First! Hierarchy.”

Later in the letter, Merkley detailed her experience working with Stone-Manning during the investigation, calling her “the meanest of the suspects.”
“She was vulgar, hostile and extremely anti-government. She was very uncooperative and refused to provide hair, handwriting copies and fingerprints as ordered by the federal grand jury,” Merkley said. “It was only after informing her that she would be arrested if she did not comply with the summons that she reluctantly provided me with these samples. However, she refused to answer my other questions. . “

“Tracy Stone-Manning is a dedicated public servant with years of experience and a proven track record in finding solutions and common ground with respect to our public lands and waters,” said a White House official. to Fox News in an email. “She is exceptionally qualified to be the next director of the Bureau of Land Management.”
Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., A senior member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, criticized Stone-Manning in a statement to Fox News, saying she “lied to the committee.”
“I am grateful to the lead investigator for providing the committee with all the facts of the case,” Barrasso said. “Not only has Tracy Stone-Manning collaborated with eco-terrorists, but she has also helped plan tree planting in the Clearwater National Forest.
