It was a sensational start for Foothill’s women’s volleyball program, with the Falcons starting 2-0 in the East Bay Athletics League (EBAL) and 7-0 overall.

In the first week of the championship, Foothill beat Granada 3-1 and Livermore 3-0. Grayce Olson had 23 kills and 15 digs against Granada, Paige Bennett adding nine kills and two blocks. Sruti Jonnalagadda added four kills and four blocks.

In the win over Livermore, Kaycie Burdick had five kills and seven digs. Katelyn Tagalog (8 assists, 5 serve points) and Ellen Huang (3 kills, 3 serve points) also played well.

The Falcons then came out and won the Gold Division of the Irvington Tournament, going 5-0 in the process. Perfect 2-0 scores against Kennedy, Menlo-Atherton, Las Lomas, Newark Memorial and Leland gave Foothill the title.

Highlights of the tournament came from Olson (50 kills, 19 serves), Katie Salonga (72 assists, 13 serves) and Jo Modica (30 serves, 13 kills).
