At least 24 people were killed in a wreck on the Indonesian coast, local residents reported, while rescuers sought to rescue 40 people.

Twenty-four bodies were found and 74 were completed, but 41 people were searched, said spokesman for the Indonesian Agency national management.

He said the passengers were already on board a ferry and high waves and that their evacuation was under way.

A 48-meter vessel traveled from the island of Sulavesi to the neighboring island of Selajar when it suddenly started strong winds and high waves.
