The peasant conflict around the country – 13 dead

At least 13 people were killed in a clash of armed farmers who fought around the state of Oahaka in southern Mexico.

A person is missing, local authorities reported.

Everything happened in the Jautepek area when the local Santa Maria Ekatepek went to the property when they were attacked by rivals from San Lukas Ihkotepek.

"At the moment, we have counted 13 dead, including a woman, and one wounded, as well as a missing person," the statement said in a statement from local authorities.

More than a dozen police officers were sent to the scene of the conflict after the tragedy of yesterday.

The agrarian conflict of two communities is inspired by the 1970s.

The state of Oahaka is one of the poorest in Mexico and has many indigenous communities where more conflict intact across the country sometimes degenerate into violence.

In May 2002, 26 people were killed in fighting by opposing groups, and on July 1 in the conflict between the two communities, three people were killed and three others injured.
