The Institute of Public Health "Dr. Milan Jovanović Batut" announced that 29 cases of West Nile fever were recorded in Serbia before 17 July. At the same time throughout the European Union, according to data until July 12, 13 cases of the same fever were recorded.
Of 29 cases in Serbia, 10 are in the south of Banat and in Belgrade. South Banat has many times less inhabitants, so it is clear that the most vulnerable region in Serbia. Other cases are in the district of South Backa (central eastern Novi Sad) – 6, district of Srem – 2, and Podunavski region – 1 case of registered disease

Among the people who suffered from West Nile fever were 19 men and 10 women. The age of the disease is 31 to 84 years old. And in 24 cases, they also have a chronic illness.
