– Police received operational information that the opening of the museum, outside the public, attracted the attention of the thief . According to the information available, the preparations for the theft have already begun, and members of the criminal group "Pink Panter", known for similar actions around the world, are involved. Some members of this group have already arrived in Belgrade. For this reason, security in the museum has increased at the highest level, and the police are waiting, says the informed source of the Serbian telegraph.
According to him, the group has planned some of the most expensive works of the museum, worth about 150 million euros. It is Klod Monet's "Pink Cathedral", Paul Gogen's "Tahićanki" and Pierre -Ongist Renoar's "Kupačica".
Spasic: There is no doubt that the "panthers" have already recorded the situation
Private detective Bozo Spasic, former head of the DB, confirms for the Serbian telegraph that the danger of theft at the National Museum is real.
– There is no doubt that gangs involved in stealing items of art and values, including Pink Panter, have already recorded the situation. The national museum contains many objects of exceptional value, and the bands made by the Serbs have already covered works of art in the Netherlands and Sweden. It is necessary to make them more difficult to work, as well as to check in detail all museum employees, that "panthers" or another criminal organization would not find a mole inside. Controlling employees in an institution of national importance should be done by the BIA, not only routinely, but also deeply, says Spasic.
Three pillars of protection
Dragan Karleuša, a retired civil servant of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, who has worked for years in the protection of cultural heritage and who believes that the "National Museum" work. "
Karleusa: There is no expensive security because what went is much more expensive
– There are three pillars of protection: fire, flood and theft. Not only the part that visitors see, but more importantly, the renovated and protected depots of the National Museum. There is no expensive security because what is missing is much more expensive, of inestimable value – says Karleusa.
