For the first time in ten years, a documentary is among the three nominees for this prestigious award, awarded since 2007 as the European film the most important and the most important "sets the stage for the debate on Europe today."
Of the 10 films that were nominated and announced at the Karlovy Vary festival earlier this month, three films were selected, which will be the final destination for the European continent. Members of the European Parliament will vote on the winner and will be announced on 14 November in Strasbourg.
The documentary Mile Turajlic, as well as the two other films released this year in the final, "Woman at War" by Benedict Erlingson and "Styx" Wolfgang Fischer, will be part of the program of the Venice Film Festival, which takes place in September
After that, these three films will be translated into 24 European languages and presented in 28 European countries as part of Lux Film Days 2018 (LUX Film Days 2018). Each film will also produce educational material that will be shared with the youngest viewers.
Mile Turajlić, the author of the movie "Cinema Komunisto", was premiered in 2017 in Toronto, then in sixty festivals around the world and has already won more than twenty awards.
In her film, the director traces the story of a divided apartment and a land that has been persecuted by ghosts of the past. The chronicle of several generations of a family in Serbia is turning into a portrait of activist in a time of great turmoil, challenging the responsibility of each generation to fight for their future
The premiere of the film took place in the framework of the Sava Center Film Festival to 3,500 spectators, and in about a month more than 12,000 spectators had the opportunity to see him in the cinema repertoire of the Cultural Center of Belgrade. This autumn begins the film distribution of the film in France and Germany, after which it will be broadcast on the channel Arte.
