Set up iPhone, iPad to automatically delete songs that have not been played for a while

Apple Music may be eating away at the storage of your iPhone or iPad. Here's how to automatically delete songs that have not been played for a while.

Apple Music is an online streaming service, but as you listen to songs, they are downloaded and cached in your device's memory. But you also have the ability to download songs directly to your device for offline listening, which is nothing short of convenient. This means that if you continue to listen to your music and download it for later, you also sacrifice valuable storage space. This may not be a problem if you have a device that has a storage capacity north of 128 GB, but if you are using a 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB embedded device, the problem may be a problem.

So, how do you correct that? Simple, iOS has a built-in feature that optimizes storage for you and removes downloaded songs that have not been played in a while. How do you activate this feature? From the application Settings, obviously. Pick up your iPhone or iPad and follow it until the end.

1. Start the settings app.

2. Scroll and find The music then press to open it to reveal more options.

3. Now find the Optimize storage, press to open.

4. Activate the function and set Minimum storage at No as shown in the screen shot below.

From now on, if a song lives on your device and has not been played for a long time, iOS will delete it automatically. This only applies to your Apple Music tracks, not those manually copied from iTunes.

This is a very handy feature, as we tend to download many songs from Apple Music over time and, after a few listenings, we insert them into our forget list. Of course, tastes change in the end, but your old music is tearing up your storage for no reason, and that's a space that you can totally use to capture photos or record videos, or maybe to be install some applications.
