CINCINNATI – The owner of several top restaurants and bars in the Cincinnati area has decided to close all of those places until February due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This includes the Senate, Pontiac BBQ, Abigail Street, Forty Thieves and Holiday Spirits, which will be holding all of their final days on Saturday, November 28.
In a Facebook update Tuesday night, restaurateur Daniel Wright said the past eight months have been particularly trying for his staff working through the stress of the pandemic.
“When we reopened earlier this year, we sincerely hoped for the best and desperately wanted to believe the worst was behind us,” he wrote. “We’ve heard all about a future outbreak but we were hoping our fellow human beings would have the sense to wear their goddamn masks, to distance themselves socially and to look out for each other. I think it is pretty clear that some did not and still refuse.
With cases of COVID-19 “out of control” and with a “lack of leadership” on the part of government officials, Wright said restaurants will close until next year.
“We decided that we had to take matters into our own hands and do what is best for our people and our businesses. In doing so, Lana and I made the difficult decision to shut down all of our businesses until February,” a- he declared. .
Customers can still show their support by dining in or ordering through Saturday, and 100% of any gift card or book sales will go directly to their staff.
“We know there is hope around the corner, we know things won’t always be like this,” Wright said. “We know that not all of our brothers and sisters in the hospitality industry have signed up for this. We want to provide an excellent working environment, a safe working environment for our employees for the next ten years and not just suffer the next. ten weeks. “
Wright previously closed its Over-the-Rhine sites in June for mandatory COVID-19 testing following an employee who tested positive for the virus. These restaurants reopened shortly after.
