Several U.S. marshals injured in Bronx shooting, suspects dead

BRONX, New York (WABC) – A suspect has died after a shooting in which three United States Marshals were wounded in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

Shots erupted on Ely Avenue around 5:30 a.m. this morning.

The marshals appear to have executed an arrest warrant against a suspect at the time of the shooting.

Several police units rushed to the scene moments after the shooting began.

The suspect was shot at the scene and died.

He is identified by law enforcement as Andre Sterling, 35.

He was wanted for shooting in the hand a Massachusetts State Police soldier in Hyannis, Cape Cod on November 20.

The injured marshals were rushed to Jacobi Hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.

A second suspect was taken to Jacobi hospital for treatment.
