Severe storms and possible tornadoes cause damage to News 9 viewing area

Severe storms produced several brief tornadoes in southwest, central and east-central Oklahoma on Sunday evening, causing isolated damage before moving towards Tulsa.

In the town of Amber, in Grady County, utility poles were broken east of town along County Road 1300. A fire official told News 9 that a store had been broken. damaged as well as a house and the town’s old grain silo. This elevator is located near Main and Highway 92.

Power outages have also been reported statewide. At 9:20 am, there were 10,000 OG&E customers without power.

The tornado storm moved from Grady County to Cleveland County, causing a lot of hail and high winds, especially on the east side of Norman. News 9 viewers on Porter Avenue and Main Street sent us pictures of shattered windows. News 9 reporter August McDonnell reports that windows have burst along parts of East Main in Norman.

6:30 p.m. Meteorologist Lacey Swope said damage was reported about eight miles west of Boone, Oklahoma, in Caddo County. The damage obviously concerned a barn.

6:15 p.m. A tornado warning has been issued for Caddo County until 7:00 p.m.

5:57 PM A tornado warning for Kiowa County continues. The storm is getting stronger as it moves rapidly northeast at around 45 mph.
