A Krispy Kreme store in Atlanta owned by Shaquille O’Neal was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.
The Basketball Hall of Famer released a video of the burning store shortly after midnight with the caption “We will come back stronger than ever”.
Local media posted other angles of the burning building.
The cause of the fire remains unknown
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that two employees worked at the store’s drive-thru but were able to escape to safety after seeing sons smoking. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Douglas Hatcher, of the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, told The Associated Press that the fire started in the back of the store. Photos show the building’s exterior facade escaped extensive damage, although investigators told AJC it was likely “totally destroyed.”

“It won’t be open anytime soon,” Fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford told AJC. “I would say it’s a total loss. The entire rear half is burnt.
Krispy Kreme’s historical roots
The Midtown Krispy Kreme site opened in 1965 as part of the Southern establishment’s iconic expansion away from its North Carolina roots. He reportedly donated 150 dozen donuts to churches to help feed the swarms of mourners participating in the 1968 funeral procession for Dr Martin Luther King as most restaurants in town were closed on Tuesday morning.
O’Neal bought the store in 2016 and has become a global spokesperson for the company.
