TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Like other surrounding counties, the Shawnee County Department of Health (SCHD) has launched an online survey for those who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. At present, this is specifically for those who have been identified as part of the Kansas Vaccination Plan – Phase 2. For more information on who is eligible for the vaccine in specific phases, see www. kansasvaccine.gov

Individuals or organizations who meet the listed criteria and wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 2 are encouraged to complete the following survey / interest form: http://bit.ly/ShawneeCoVaccineSurvey Details Further details on immunization timelines and schedule will be communicated as more details regarding the administration of the Phase 2 vaccine are released and additional vaccine doses become available.

“We encourage all members of the community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them,” said Craig Barnes, division director of the Shawnee County Department of Health. “We are working diligently to complete the vaccinations of health care workers and others as part of Phase 1 so that we can move quickly to people in Phase 2 when we receive this guidance. Although the first doses of vaccine are here, we must continue to remain vigilant and continue to wear our masks, wash our hands and watch our distances.

Administration of the SCHD vaccine for phase 1 individuals is still ongoing, with 1788 doses of vaccine administered as part of its collaboration with GraceMed. In accordance with current KDHE guidelines, we will complete the first phase before moving on to additional phases. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses, separated by 28 days. Individuals must receive both doses to be considered fully immunized. Current and future programming is based on vaccine availability and can be changed depending on vaccine supply.
