Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacLaine enjoyed a classic Martini with lunch as she dined al fresco at Kristy’s Village Cafe in Malibu on Friday.

While oozing old Hollywood glamor with her drink of choice, the 86-year-old star took her time sipping her cocktail as she chatted with her assistant.

MacLaine’s outing to the beachfront restaurant comes just weeks after outdoor dining in Los Angeles reopened amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As she enjoyed the warm weather, MacLaine wore a light green sweater, a pair of oversized black glasses and a white visor, which read “Malibu”.

The former star, who has won five Golden Globe Awards throughout her legendary career, completed her outfit with brown moccasins.

In November, she attributed the longevity of her career of more than six decades to her discipline, stemming from her ballet training as a child.

“Even though I tell people the truth, I’m not a diva. It comes from my ballet training at 3, ” she told Variety.

MacLaine continued, “ I have to get back to that and just hard, honest work, with a fair bit of art, if you can put it together, added. I also stayed with the company and never thought of leaving because I wanted to pay for the plane tickets to travel.

After her surprise hiatus in 1954 as a replacement in Broadway’s The Pajama Game, Shirley made her big screen debut in The Trouble with Harry where she bonded with director Alfred Hitchcock.

“He wouldn’t eat a meal without me. I gained 25 pounds on that movie and got a call from Frank Freeman, who was the head of Paramount at the time, and he said, ‘Should we just tear up your contract? Are you going to stop eating? remembers MacLaine (born MacLean Beaty).

“We were talking and he was telling me stories, and he was getting very sophisticated cynical. And I thought it was funny, and he would be happy if I figured it out … I was only 18. I was just happy to be in his company because he was so much fun and he liked to test everyone’s receptivity for cynicism. I realize it now.

And while the Noelle actress called Jack Lemmon “ a great friend ” she “ adored, ” she wasn’t as excited about working with their double-director Billy Wilder (The Apartment, Irma the sweet).

“I liked him, but I wouldn’t put him in the lead for women’s liberation,” Shirley joked.

MacLaine was known as the only female Rat Packer, calling Dean Martin “spontaneously funny” and Frank Sinatra “talented.”

“ He was born with it, but he was on his own as a child and went to music as a best friend, ” Warren Beatty’s big sister said of Sinatra.

The Emmy winner also revealed that she has three films lined up – including People Not Places by Brad Furman and Men of Granite by Armand Kachigian – that have been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shirley recently appeared in one of three episodes of Grammy-nominated Road Trip Elegies: Montreal to New York, Rufus Wainwright, released three months ago on Audible.

MacLaine lives on a ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her three rat burrows, but is estranged from her 64-year-old daughter Sachi, who wrote a scathing 2013 story titled Lucky Me.
