LIVINGSTON, Louisiana – A Louisiana man suspected of participating in multiple shootings in multiple parishes that left at least one woman dead was at large on Saturday night and is considered armed and dangerous, authorities confirmed to multiple media outlets.

Deputies from several parishes work with Louisiana State Police soldiers to locate Matthew Mire, 31, accused of exchanging gunfire with a state soldier in East Baton Rouge before dawn Saturday. Later that day, authorities linked Mire to two consecutive double shootings that left three injured and one dead in a madness that began just after midnight, Avocado reported.

Members of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office first responded to a mobile home park and found two victims with gunshot wounds, WWL-TV reported.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office, a male victim was shot in the arm, while a female victim was punched in the arm and leg. The two victims were transported to medical centers in the area for treatment and are expected to recover.

The victims told police they heard noise outside their home before someone broke through the front door and opened fire. Investigators believe Mire knew the victims, and he is also accused of stealing a blue 2013 Chevrolet Silverado from Livingston Parish to escape, WWL-TV reported.

Mire is then accused of breaking into a house in the parish of Livingston and opening fire, before attacking the occupants of a house in Prairieville in the parish of Ascension. The male victim in the Prairieville home is listed in critical condition, while the female victim, Pamela Adair, 37, has died of her injuries at an area hospital, the TV channel reported.

Mire then reportedly encountered a Louisiana State Police soldier around 5 a.m., who allegedly attempted to stop the blue Chevrolet. The driver, who investigators believe to be Mire, refused to stop, opened fire on the soldier, and continued to shoot at the soldier throughout a high-speed chase, The Lawyer reported.

“We have to take this guy into custody because he won’t sleep until he sleeps,” Livingston Ward Sheriff Jason Ard said. said to the newspaper, noting that a motive in the shootings has not yet been established.

“We’re pretty confident it’s contained within the perimeter, but we have to be careful. Is he outside this area? Did he kill himself? Is he hiding in a deer stand or in a vacant house? We don’t know, ”Ard added.
