SINGAPORE: About 150 people were evacuated from Sim Lim Square on Monday, June 17 after the fire that broke out on the fifth floor of the mall.
The Singapore Civil Defense Forces (SCDF) said it reacted to the fire at 1 Rochor Canal Road around 12 o'clock.
The fire, which involved the contents of a trash can, triggered the building's watering system, said SCDF. The fire was extinguished by SCDF with the aid of a reel.
About 150 people were evacuated before SCDF arrived.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is the subject of an investigation.
A video circulating online shows smoke in the corridors of the building and a fire alarm is heard in the background.
Another video shows at least two emergency vehicles on scene, as well as a large group of people gathered outside.
