4 people arrested for stealing clothing and accessories worth 30,000 Singapore dollars

SINGAPORE: Four people, suspected of being part of a foreign crime syndicate, were arrested for stealing $ 30,000 worth of items, including clothes and accessories, police said Tuesday (November 27th) .

Police on Monday received a report from a Smith Street retailer claiming that items had been stolen from the store.

Following a ground investigation, officers from the Central Police Division identified the suspects and arrested them on the same day. The suspects, two men and two women, are between 27 and 41 years old.

More than 1,000 items, including designer clothing, were recovered and seized as exhibits. The items have a total estimated value of about S $ 30,000.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects would belong to a foreign crime syndicate and would have been involved in other similar cases across Singapore.

On Wednesday, the four suspects will be charged with theft with intent and fraudulent possession with intent. If they are found guilty, they risk a maximum sentence of eight years imprisonment and a fine.
