Hulu delivers a batch of first-look images and a first date for his new drama [19659005] The First, by creator Beau Willimon, starring Sean Penn and Natascha McElhone. The next series tells the story of the first human expedition to Mars, adopting a more entrenched approach to storytelling with an emphasis on the personal and professional aspects of such a mission, not to mention the enormous technical challenges and deadly risks with such a monumental business. In essence, the series sounds a bit like The Right Stuff but centered on humanity's first inhabited journey to another planet.
The series certainly has its own pedigree because it stars not only Sean Penn, two-time Academy Award winner, but also McElhone, who has already been the star (with George Clooney) in Steven Soderbergh's remake of Solaris, and also appeared in The Truman Show, Ronin and most recently ABC designated Survivor . The rest of the cast includes, James Ransone, LisaGay Hamilton, and Melissa George among others, but, oddly enough, one of the biggest draws for The First may be that # 39, he comes from Willimon, who is perhaps best known as the creator of the house of cards of Netflix .

The series will mark Willimon's first work since the release of the political drama before his fifth season. While this sounds curious at the time, it now seems that the writer and the creator have not only evolved into better things, but he dodged a ball, somehow, in front of the series' Kevin Spacey – less sixth and last season. And now, Willimon's new series not only has a first-look picture gallery, but she also has an official release date: September 14, 2018 on Hulu. Check out the official images and synopsis below:
"Sean Penn directs a cast of actors in this near-future drama about a team of astronauts who are trying to become the first humans on Mars. the leadership of aeronautical visionary magnate Laz Ingram (Natascha McElhone), the crew fights the peril and personal sacrifice while he undertakes the greatest feat of human history. "
The First is another example of Hulu's original series an interesting dramatic rate with recognizable stars attached. Later this month, the streaming service will present the psychological thriller / Stephen King Easter egg Hunt, Castle Rock. Meanwhile, George Clooney's mini-series Catch-22 is currently spinning. This is in addition to the winning adaptation by Emmy de Hulu The Handmaid's Tale who has accumulated some other nominations this year. If The First will be another reward magnet for Hulu remains to be seen, but the concept and distribution involved are certainly reason enough to check it out in September.
